CGC Storis sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge |

Maybe the USCGC Storis, largest of the first ships to circumnavigate the North American Continent, will not be a reef or razor blades! Jim Loback, a board member for the “Storis Museum”, and all the folks at USCG Cutter Storis Museum & Education Center, LLC, in Juneau, Alaska, are working hard to secure the former USCGC Storis W-38, as a museum in Juneau. Jim asked us to post a small story in our next publication, with contact information for the museum. But, at tonight’s meeting, almost every member there had either sailed on Storis or Spar |

or Bramble. A couple had actually sailed on all three during their career. So, we opted to pass the information via email, our webpage and in our newsletter. From Jim Loback:
“STORIS MUSEUM” - We are in the process of obtaining the former CGC STORIS for a museum in Juneau, Alaska. This will be a museum for all Alaska’s maritime history as well as Coast Guard and the Revenue Cutter Service. We are currently looking for any historical information and artifacts for the museum. Contact: Jim Loback at (714) 968-8964 or on the Internet at:

Good luck, Jim!!! |
